Morocco: Existing & Upcoming Data Center Portfolio

Key Market Highlights: 

• Casablanca is Morocco's primary data center hub, housing most of the data centers. Benefits such as lower labor and land costs and increased adoption of cloud, AI, and big data make the city an attractive investment location. 
• The country has planned to develop five wind projects in Morocco, under 850 MW integrated wind energy projects, to achieve the renewable energy target. A consortium involving Enel Green Power (EGP), Nareva, and Siemens will develop these projects. 
• The data protection law from The National Control Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP) is aiding the growth of investments for data center developments as this law provides strict rules for data transfer outside the country's border.  
• N+ONE Datacenters launched Morocco’s first data-neutral internet exchange point, Casablanca Internet Exchange (CASIX), in 2016, in which Paris-based Internet exchange point operator France-IX provided technical assistance.
