Global Bionic HMI Market will post a CAGR of more than 9% during the forecast period
A recent report by Arizton, Global Human Machine Interface (HMI) Market – Global Outlook and Forecast 2017–2022, has highlighted some interesting and crucial information about the global HMI market. Analysts at Arizton say that the global HMI market is likely to witness huge growth during the forecast period. The market will cross $7.4 billion growing at a CAGR of 9% during the forecast period 2016–2022.
The report provides a detailed study of the global HMI market by various segment such as technology, configuration, interface, end-user, geography, and countries. It states that among other technologies, bionic technology will have the maximum revenue contribution to the global HMI market.
Bionic HMI Market
Bionic technology has been around for several years, however, a few have heard of it. It is basically a combination of biology, robotics, and computer science. It can also be seen as a technology, which uses or monitors the biological aspect of the human body to perform a function. It can be bionic eyes, arms, ears, legs, feet, hands, and toes. Since the last decade, it has come alive, and bionics is an impressive area, which provides cutting-edge technology. To use the biological signal, electrodes are used to gather the useful information from the body. HMI techniques use the electrodes to gather electric data, and in many cases, the same electrodes are used for different aspects of bionics with alteration of frequencies to monitor and change the level amplification. These HMI techniques are originated from medical practices such as EEG, EMG, EOG, and ECG. Bionics break them down into two categories, which include EEG based Brain Computer Interfacing (BCI) and EMG Myoelectric Control. Over the next five year the bionic technology is going to dominate the global HMI market says the analyst at Arizton.
Brain Computing Interfacing (BCI)
The human brain is made up of billions of nerve cells called neurons. They have an amazing ability to gather and transmit electrochemical signals. Electroencephalography (EEG) records this electrical activity, and this is what is used in BCI. In general, there are two forms of BCI - invasive and non-invasive. The invasive BCI requires electrodes to surgically implanted through the skull into the brain to monitor the activity. One of the applications of this technology is that it allows blinded people to recover their sight with a bionic eye partially. Earlier, it was only possible to monitor the neural activity, but now it is also possible to communicate with existing brain tissues and has the potential to replace brain damaged regions with microchips, which is the extreme form of bionic HMI.
Myoelectric control is similar to BCI, but it is interested in electrical characteristics of muscles. Electromyography (EMG) is the process of monitoring electrical signals. EMG operates in millivolts, which is much stronger than EEG and does not require any amplification. Muscles do have electrical properties, and they come from an electro-chemical reaction. Myoelectric HMI is quite feasible as an interface, and one of the major applications in a prosthetic limb such as an arm or a leg. Similar to camera gesture recognition, EMG gesture recognition can be used as a rich source of input to control several things such as hands-free portable music player, simulated aeroplane, and a prosthetic hand. Any action performed by muscles or limbs can be converted into an electrically signal and can be used to control any electrical device.
The report also profiles the leading player of the global HMI market and includes the strength, strategies, and key opportunities of the major vendors. It also includes the other prominent vendor landscape. In terms of configuration the embedded HMI market will churn out to be a dominant segment. The report provides the market size of each segment and also provides the top trends, size and growth forecast.
